Skull Study

One of the first modules on my course is an introduction to ZBrush. For those that don't know about ZBrush, it's computer software which an Artist can use to sculpt with, very much like sculpting with clay. After working through some tutorials today, I feel like ZBrush is quite intuitive and I can tell myself and the programme will become great friends haha. The initial project I've been given is to sculpt a human skull in ZBrush, so this evening I've been sketching a skull. I feel that actually drawing the skull is helping me to work out how I'm going to sculpt in ZBrush. I've decided to mainly use the clay build up tool in ZBrush, because after studying a skull, I've realised it's not really smooth at all, but it has loads of texture. I have no idea why this is the first skull study I have done, because it's the type of study which will influence everything I do as an Artist, including comic book art. To the brilliant Artists I know out there, I would strongly suggest you get into ZBrush if you haven't already.
