King Kai

This is the finished, full colour version of King Kai from Dragon Ball Z, posted as part of my Junetoon 2024. Colour was added to this drawing using Graph'it markers and Photoshop. I really enjoy blending traditional art techniques with a digital workflow because of the mixed media approach.

When completing this illustration, I've been watching some of the Dragon Ball Z cartoon again, and I've realised more fully how King Kai is a Top OG in the Dragon Ball Z Universe. He just sits there in wise sage mode, dropping truth about the origin history of both the Tuffles and the Saiyans, whilst wearing John Lennon style sunglasses.
