Mars Attacks!

This is a mixed media WIP Mars Attacks! illustration which I'm creating as part of my Julyfy 2024. I first watched Mars Attacks! in the Odeon cinema at Weston Super Mare, and I can definitely say that at the time I took Tim Burton movies, with a Danny Elfman soundtrack, for granted.

I've decided to use the remainder of my Julyfy to focus on improving my use of acrylic paints. I have a rather love hate relationship with acrylic paints. On the one hand they dry too quickly, which causes difficulty when blending them adequately, and on the other, they are very versatile paints, especially when watered down.

I'll be adding further detail to this illustration with Posca paint markers and Indian ink. I'm thoroughly enjoying making this artwork and I can't wait to add more detailing to the art. I'm going to take my time with the development of the illustration, with this only being the first pass with the acrylic colours, and tomorrow I'll make a second.
