The Priest Dando and The Wild Hunt

Here is the second piece of art which I'm submitting to be considered for a forthcoming folklore book being created by @darkcornwall . This illustration features the legend of the Priest Dando and the Wild Hunt.

I decided to create artwork about this particular theme because the scene is set on Bodmin Moor. I find Bodmin Moor to be a very foreboding place with an alien landscape, and I think it makes for an appropriate backdrop to this folklore story. It's worth saying that Bodmin has an abandoned asylum and a historic closed prison, not to mention an old Knights Templar Church on Bodmin Moor, which creates an austere and sobering atmosphere in the area.

Also, I picked this folklore story because it has both a galloping horse and 5 spectral hounds, which I added to increase the sense of movement and chaos to the scene. For the glowing ember eyes of the spectral hounds I used 94 spray paint, and I specifically applied spray paint because it makes the artwork more loose in certain areas, in contrast to the detailed pen work.

Developing artwork which is based on Cornish folklore has been worthwhile and I'd like to thank @darkcornwall for organising the event. I'm feeling inspired to create more Cornish folklore art in the future.
