Kentucky Goblins Comic Sample Page

Today I entered this final art piece into @therookiesco Monthly Art Challenge: Small Wonders, and the theme of the project is the Kentucky Goblins incident from 21st August 1955. The scenario happened in Kelly-Hopkinsville, Kentucky, USA, where a group of mysterious cryptids were reportedly sighted.

Something I'm keen to do as an Artist is to combine my 3D game art with the comic book style of art I create. To do this for the final piece I have presented the artwork as a comic book sample page. I've given the comic book page a retro zine aesthetic to make it look vintage and of the 1950s era.

There is quite a narrative and lore surrounding the Kentucky Goblins events, so I thought it would be a good idea to use typography on the page, as well as the sequential panels and storytelling to make the most out of the scene. I think it was quite bold to present the finished artwork as more of a 2D concept art piece than 3D art, seeing as the visuals to the project were mainly made in 3D, but I feel the graphic presentation captures the essence of the project.

If you are wondering what the cultural significance of the Kentucky Goblins events is, it's from this incident that the term 'Little Green Men' was produced, via the media reports at the time.
