Bio

Draw for Change has asked me to write a bio, so I thought I'd post the description about myself here....

"Marcus Jose is a self-funded Comic Book Artist from the West of England, near to Bristol. He has been drawing for as far back as he can remember. As time has progressed, he has gained an extensive art education. Marcus graduated from Central Saint Martin's College of Art and Design in London after studying BA illustration and gained a 2.1. He has also completed various art and design short courses.

His work is inspired by various sources, mainly comics, but also films and animation. Marcus considers the artwork of Frank Miller and John Byrne to have had a big influence on his artwork. Films such as Dune 1984, Predator 1987, and Ghostbusters 2 1989 are some of his favourites. In terms of animation, Marcus has worked for companies such as Aardman Animations, and animation has a big impact on his work, including storyboarding. The work of Ray Harryhausen was one of the first inspirations he remembers and this has remained with him.

The main inspiration for Marcus is his Christian Protestant faith. He plans to make comics in the future, and Christian comics in particular. At present, he is refining his drawing skills to gain the precise style he wants.

Marcus would describe himself as a non-conformist and he enjoys living his Batman/Bruce Wayne lifestyle."
