Environment Art

Swipe left to see some preliminary sketches of the objects. Although the majority of my BA Game Art course is about learning CGI software such as Maya and Substance Painter, we are also asked to take part in traditional life drawing lessons each week. My life drawing tutor is an exceptional Artist who has exhibited at the National Gallery in London and the BP Portrait Awards. The teaching standard at Falmouth University is next level and because of this I gladly listen to their critique of my artwork. At the moment in life drawing we are studying still life scenes. I'm around 5 weeks into my course and I can say that studying environment art is changing the way I approach the creative process. Now when I observe objects I'm considering more what type of surface they have, what they are made from, how shiny they are, how reflective they are, etc. This helps me to render a still life object more accurately.
