Portraiture

Earlier today in the three hour drawing workshop we were asked to focus on portraiture, and each of these drawings took around 45 mins. The class was asked to use a reductive technique of drawing, where the paper is covered in charcoal, and then an eraser is used to rub out the charcoal to leave the highlight areas. These drawings were created using willow charcoal on large scale newsprint paper, because the reductive method of drawing works best with these materials.
