Freddy Krueger

With my entries now complete for the A Nightmare on Elm Street art book project, I thought I'd make this post to reflect on the artistic process. Here is a WIP mixed media illustration of Freddy Krueger, which is inspired specifically by the fourth film in the horror movie series.

For the art project, I've made a trilogy of illustrations. With this being said, I have a lot more ideas for potential Elm Street artwork, which I may develop further in the future.

The art style I've gone for in regard to the trilogy of illustrations is mixed media, with a spray paint, air brushed effect. Some of the art materials I have incorporated include inks, watercolours, and acrylic paints.

My goal was to give this artwork a rad and gnarly 80's retro aesthetic.

I'm pleased with the art style I have used for the illustrations, and my approach is to combine realistic aspects, with more abstract features. I would like to refine this spray paint, air brushed style in the future, but I think it's moving in the right direction.
