Eternian Aquatic Merman

This is the Eternian Aquatic Merman from the 'Masters of the Universe', with the renders being created using Substance Painter. When I submitted this project for grading, I used the Panorama option to render in Substance Painter. After further work in Substance Painter, I realised that the Studio 2 option probably works better for the renders seen here.

Although I went retro with the sculpt of Merman, I used creative license for how I textured the character. I ended up using a lot of natural references for the textures, looking at everything from coral, to crab shell, to fish scales. To develop the texturing I applied a series of fill layers and filters in Substance Painter, and I also hand painted some of the textures with the sponge tool.
