Train Graveyard

At the end of March I'll be taking part in a @draw_for_change charity art auction and all the proceeds will go to @unicef. The event is based on the @netflix series called 'Tales by Light' which follows the work of Unicef around the world. Simon Lister @scilista is a presenter in 'Tales by Light' and he worked with Orlando Bloom @orlandobloom as a fellow presenter in the series. Simon Lister is originally from New Zealand and he also works as a photographer. Amazingly enough, Simon is kindly working alongside @draw_for_change for the March event as an advisor, helping to inspire the DFC Artists with his stories from the series. I think this is very cool and gracious of him, and hopefully it will get more eyes on the charity art auction. When I heard about this project, the episode which features the train graveyard in Bolivia immediately jumped out at me. My art project will be based on this 'Tales by Light' episode. When I consider of the abandoned trains, I reckon it makes for strong visuals. In keeping with the theme of heavy machinery, I decided to create some artwork featuring the Transformers, and the setting will be the train graveyard in Bolivia. The overall concept to the artwork is finding strength in the face of adversity, and I can't think of a better way to represent this than the heroic Autobots. The Autobots will be surrounded by the Decepticons. The first drawing I've posted was made referencing a 'Tales by Light' photograph of a train, and the second was made referencing a photo of the train graveyard which I found through researching. The dilapidated trains really look striking, imposing, and awesome. Perhaps these photos don't show the trains clearly, but I'm sure they will become more apparent once colour is added next week.
