I am a Conspiracy Theorist and I say this with unwavering affirmation. One of the first conspiracies I became interested in at around age nine is the Jack the Ripper case. I've researched the case study extensively and even been on the Jack the Ripper tour. This tour involves a historian walking a group around the Jack the Ripper sites in London, places like Whitechapel, Temple, and Tower Hill. It's worthy of note that the incidents took place very close to one another, within easy walking distance. Upon reflection, I now think the Metropolitan Police force was involved in the cover up. There were too many "blunders" in the investigation for it to be coincidence. I'm a Conspiracy Theorist, not a coincidence theorist. There are also a number of sinister connections between the British Royal family and the case. The Michael Caine series and the film From Hell follows on with this theme. It's not that I disagree with this series and film, I just don't think they went far enough. I'd make the suggestion that perhaps Sir William Gull wasn't just some crackpot renegade. They did make him a Sir after all. This piece of artwork follows along with the idea that Walter Sickert was the Ripper. I now don't think he was the culprit, although he was definitely a very weird guy. I created this artwork using watercolour, pastel pencils, ink, and pencil on paper. The artwork has pages printed on acetate from the Patricia Cornwell book Portrait of a Killer about the subject of Walter Sickert being a suspect. Someone has taken an interest in this artwork and it's now gone to a new home. I'm happy it's gone to a new dwelling place and I hope they preserve it well, but at the same time, I'm totally gutted because this is probably one of my favourite pieces of artwork which I have created.
