They Live

"Obey. Stay asleep. Watch TV. Consume. No independent thought. Conform. Sleep 8 hours. Work 8 hours. Play 8 hours. Submit. No thought." For the final part of the semester in Environment Art I've been asked to create a drone. I decided to make the alien spy drone from the 1988 movie They Live seen by Rowdy Roddy Piper when he wears the sunglasses for the first time. These renders were created using Substance Painter and I was experimenting with the studio lighting settings in the software, which work great with the They Live alien dimension asthetic. It really is a lot of fun bringing the themes of alien body snatchers, John Carpenter films, and 80s WWF wrestlers into a 2022 academic university context. #rowdyroddypiper
