Hot Rod

I use my Instagram page mainly to post my artwork, and this will continue. At the same time, I'd like to occasionally start making posts on what inspires me as an Artist. I'm a keen vintage toy collector, and one of the biggest reasons I'm into this is because it's inspires my artwork. Any collectable made after 1995 has little to no interest for me. I've realised that inspiration and motivation as an Artist are crucial. There are a variety of different types of toy collectors, from the hyper specific ones who just collect different variants of a single character, to a generalist like myself who collects from a number of toylines. The G1 Transformers toyline ran from 1984 to 1986 up until the release of the animated film, and it's about as 80s as it gets. This toyline was a bit before my time, with Turtles and the Real Ghostbusters being my era. All the same, I really wanted to add a G1 Transformer to my collection, and today I added a complete Hot Rod in good condition. I started collecting toys in 2014 and in just that amount of time retro figures have begun to get increasingly rare, especially Transformers. If you are also in collecting retro toys, or perhaps just into investing, I'd advise buying up G1 Transformers toys now because in five years time they will be even less available. Off to the UK graders this Hot Rod figure will go.
