Here is the completed illustration of the robot M.A.R.K. 13, from the 1990 film 'Hardware'. The name of the robot is based on the thirteenth chapter of the Gospel of Mark in the New Testament.
'Hardware' is a very understated futuristic, cyberpunk science fiction film, and I like the film more and more with time. The story is more subtle than most Post Apocalyptic movies, but aspects of 'Hardware' such as the Zone Tripper make a strong impact on the viewer. This character should probably have a film based solely on him.
The Zone Tripper was acted by the lead singer of a Stevenage band called 'Fields of the Nephilim', and the film has a lot of British influence. There's also a song on the soundtrack which is sang by John Lydon, as part of the band PiL.
This mixed media illustration was created with a Uni-ball fineliner, acrylic paints, inks, and oil pastels. I really enjoy drawing with oil pastels due to the vibrant colours which can be achieved.
