Snake Mountain

For the Merman project, I wanted to place the Subaquatic Fishman into an Eternian scene. After careful consideration, I decided it would look cool if I created Snake Mountain as a setting for Merman, seen here.

I would say that my main inspiration for this artwork is the original Grizzlor action figure.

I developed Snake Mountain using ZBrush, Maya, Substance Painter, and Unreal Engine 5. Making Snake Mountain was a stretch goal for this particular module, and I felt it would give a lot more context to the project if I could get it finished. I worked with a variety of references to produce this 3D asset, including the 1982 He-Man toyline, as well as the more recent Super 7 version of Snake Mountain. For the colour scheme I went with a 1983 retro palette, and these renders were created in Substance Painter.

I used creative license for the sculpt of Snake Mountain because the actual toyset is far larger, but due to time constraints, I trimmed down the design of Snake Mountain to make the project more manageable.
