Thecodontosaurus

These are a series of sketches I have made of Thecodontosaurus Antiquus, the Bristolian dinosaur. A fossil of a Thecodontosaurus was unearthed in Bristol during 1834, at the Triassic Rocks. This particular dinosaur would have reached a maximum of 2.5 metres in length, and it had a thick muscular tail and sharp thumb claws. These drawings were made as part of a competition run by the Bristol Museum, and the purpose of the competition was to find artwork based on the Thecodontosaurus. The top 3 entrants would have their artwork used for display and educational purposes by the Bristol Museum. My entry ended up finishing second, and I also won a prize of a cast made of a Thecodontosaurus claw. I donated the final artwork I created to the museum to use it as they see fit. I had four weeks to complete the artwork, and as my usual custom is, I used the first week working in my sketchbook, deeply researching the dino.
